Overview

Milan is served by three airports: Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo Orio al Serio. The Malpensa Express runs from Malpensa to Milano Centrale in 51 minutes. From Linate, the M4 metro reaches the city center (San Babila) in 12 minutes. Work on the Duomo began in 1386 and lasted almost five centuries. From its roof terraces you see the city and the mountains in the distance. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a 19th-century covered arcade by Giuseppe Mengoni, links the cathedral square with the Teatro alla Scala. Castello Sforzesco goes back to 1358–1368. Its courtyards are free to enter; the museums inside charge admission.
