About this guide

The Eiger North Face is still the yardstick for the world's best climbers. The Eiger Trail takes anyone reasonably at home on mountain paths to the foot of the wall, close enough to make out the famous climbing routes; with binoculars and a little luck you may spot a roped party on the face.

Difficulty: A mountain trail over steep pastures and scree; the trickiest sections are secured with ropes.
Season: July to October.
Getting there: To the start with the Eiger Express from Grindelwald Terminal to Eigergletscher station (15 minutes); back from Alpiglen station by train. Jungfrau Railways offers the hike with the train journey included in the ticket.
Food & drink: Restaurant at Alpiglen station at the end of the trail.
