About this guide
The Jungfraujoch, 3,454 m, is the end of the Jungfrau Railway and Europe's highest railway station, in the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the Sphinx Terrace you look down on the Aletsch Glacier, at 22 km the longest in the Alps, lined with four-thousand-metre peaks; on clear days the view on the other side reaches as far as the Black Forest and the Vosges.
- Difficulty
At this altitude drink enough and descend quickly if you get altitude sickness; people with heart or lung disease who get out of breath even on stairs should not go up.
- Season
Year-round; snow and ice on the Plateau all year. Snow Fun Park 2026: zipline 24 April – 18 October, sledging, tubing and skiing 4 May – 18 October.
- Getting there
From Grindelwald Terminal by the Eiger Express to Eiger Glacier, then on the Jungfrau Railway: about 45 minutes. A seat reservation is strongly recommended in good weather. Until 31 October 2026 a seat reservation is mandatory.

Several restaurants at the station, and the highest Lindt shop in the world.
