About this guide

Two walks on either side of the Walensee in the Heidiland region. Above the south shore the Flumserberg lifts climb to the Maschgenkamm at about 2,020 m, where a short high trail looks out over the surrounding mountains. On the north shore a path leads from Weesen to Quinten, one of the few car-free villages left in Switzerland, where the mild climate lets figs, lemons and kiwis grow.

Difficulty: High trail: a white-red-white mountain trail. Lakeside path: in places over slippery bare limestone, so good hiking boots are essential. Betlis – Seerenbach Falls: a short walk, mostly on yellow hiking trails.
Season: High trail while the Flumserberg lifts run: 2026 daily 6 June – 18 October. Lakeside path all year; boats across to Murg all year. Boats from Quinten to Weesen 3 April – 18 October 2026 and daily until 8 November. Current lift status: Flumserberg operating hours.
Getting there: High trail: Tannenboden, by car via the Flums/Flumserberg exit or by the SeeJet gondola from Unterterzen; the grand loop-pass covers the BergJet, the Prodkamm chairlift and the Prodalp-Express. The post bus between Tannenheim and Tannenboden is free in summer 2026. Lakeside path: from the Weesen bus stop; back from Quinten by Walensee boat to Weesen or across to Murg (GA and Half-Fare cards not valid).
