About this guide
The 5-Seen-Wanderung is a mountain hike above the treeline on the Pizol, one of the most popular hikes in Switzerland according to Pizolbahnen. Five mountain lakes, each with its own character, and views into the Sardona UNESCO World Heritage Site shape the route; it is SchweizMobil local route 931.
- Difficulty
A white-red-white mountain trail. A high-alpine hike with three strenuous climbs and descents that needs very good fitness; scree and rocky sections in the upper part need hiking boots with good tread.
- Season
From early July; snow is possible until then. The lifts run until mid-October. 2026: 19 June – 18 October. Current lift and trail status: Pizolbahnen summer report.
- Getting there
Pizolbahnen valley station in Wangs: gondola to Furt, chairlifts to Gaffia and the Pizolhütte; a round-trip ticket covers the hike. Start from the valley station by 11:00: the last rides down leave the Gaffia chairlift at 16:30 and Furt at 17:30.
- Food & drink
Pizolhütte at the start; Alte Alp Gaffia mountain restaurant at the end (summer only).
