Harder Kulm Ascent from Interlaken
About this guide
Harder Kulm, 1,322 m above Interlaken, is the town's own mountain: a panorama restaurant and the Zwei-Seen-Steg platform look down on Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and across to the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Most visitors ride up on the Harderbahn funicular; this hike takes the signed mountain trail from Interlaken Ost station instead.
- Difficulty
A mountain trail with a few exposed passages. Off the signed path the ground is very steep and exposed in places, especially at the top of the Hardermanndli, so don't leave the trail. Hiking shoes with a good grip; poles help on the ascent.
- Season
April to October. The Harderbahn runs from April to the end of November.
- Getting there
Start at Interlaken Ost station; there is an open-air car park next to it. From the funicular's top station it is a five-minute walk to the restaurant.

Harderbahn top station: the funicular back to Interlaken (April to end of November). Five minutes' walk from the restaurant.
