About this guide
Zermatt is a car-free village below the Matterhorn. Its ski area has up to 200 km of pistes in Sunnegga-Rothorn, Gornergrat and Schwarzsee–Matterhorn Glacier Paradise; the international ski pass adds 160 km in Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche in Italy. The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, at 3,883 m the highest mountain station in Europe, looks out over 38 four-thousanders and 14 glaciers.
Sunnegga, 4.5 minutes from the village by underground funicular, is the family area, with the Wolli beginners' park. On the Theodul Glacier at the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise you can ski in summer too, depending on snow and weather; current status: Zermatt Bergbahnen.

Beginners start in Wolli's beginners' park on Sunnegga; there is a snow park near the Furggsattel glacier lift.

By train to Zermatt. By car to the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, then the shuttle train every 20 minutes, a 12-minute ride, into the village.
